Kajian ini merupakan suatu penelitian terhadap kesesuaian penggunaan teknik penterjemahan Mildred L.Larson terhadap istilah-istilah sufi yang mengandungi makna Majāzī atau Kiasan daripada bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa sumber kepada bahasa Melayu sebagai bahasa sasaran bagi kitab terjemahan al-Ḥikam ‘Ibn ‘Aṭāillāh. Permasalahan yang sering dihadapi oleh penterjemah semasa melakukan penterjemahan apabila berhadapan dengan perkataan, ayat atau pun frasa yang mengandungi makna Majāzī bahasa sumber. Justeru, kajian ini memfokuskan kepada pemilihan teknik penterjemahan yang bersesuaian bagi istilah-istilah yang mengandungi makna Majāzī ataupun makna yang tersembunyi di sebalik makna hakiki. Objektif utama kajian adalah untuk mengenal pasti teknik terjemahan yang diperkenalkan oleh penteori terjemahan barat iaitu Mildred L.Larson terhadap istilah-istilah sufi yang terkandung di dalamnya makna Majāzī ataupun makna Kiasan. Justeru, data kajian diambil daripada kitab Terjemahan al-Hikam, Pendekatan Pengabdian Pada Khaliq (TAHPPPK) yang disepadankan dengan terjemahan yang terdapat di dalam kitab Syarah Hikam Tok Pulau Manis (SHTPM) dengan mengguna pakai teknik penterjemahan Mildred Larson. Pengkaji mengadaptasikan strategi penterjemahan bahasa Figuratif yang diperkenalkan oleh Mildred L.Larson dalam penterjemahan istilah-istilah sufi. Justifikasinya kerana perkataan bahasa Figuratif merujuk kepada penggunaan bahasa yang tidak harfiah atau tidak secara langsung untuk mengungkapkan makna yang lebih dalam atau bermakna secara kiasan. Ia melibatkan penggunaan imej, perumpamaan, metafora, simbol atau gaya bahasa lainnya untuk menyampaikan idea, emosi atau konsep yan lebih abstrak atau kompleks. Istilah sufi yang terdapat dalam korpus kajian dianggap sebagai satu bentuk gaya bahasa yang mengandungi maksud yang lebih mendalam. Oleh yang demikian itu, pengkaji mengadaptasikan strategi tersebut dalam meneliti teknik penterjemahan istilah sufi. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa teknik penterjemahan Mildred L.Larson boleh digunapakai dalam meneliti terjemahan istilah sufi yang mengandungi makna Majāzī atau Kiasan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa hanya empat teknk sahaja daripada lima teknik penterjemahan Mildred L. Larson yang boleh diaplikasikan dengan teknik ‘menterjemah tanpa mengekalkan imej atau unsur-unsur bahasa Majāzī bahasa sumber’ menunjukkan peratusan penggunaan yang tertinggi. Oleh yang demikian itu, dapatlah disimpulkan bahawa teknik penterjemahan yang dikemukakan oleh Mildred L.Larson sesuai dan boleh diaplikasikan dalam penterjemahan

Arabic Reading Book Based on Multiple Intelligences for Non-native Speakers (Case Study at UNIDA Gontor, Indonesia)

This research aims to find out the specifications of reading book to improve Arabic reading comprehension based on Multiple Intelligence theory and how effectively this book is applied to improve the reading comprehension of student of Management Department at the University of Darussalam Gontor. This research uses R&D method. Methods used for data collection are interviews, questionnaires, tests and written documents, while the analysis used is t-Test data analysis. The result of this research is a textbook that is compiled based on the theory of Multiple Intelligence for student of Management Department. The book contains 14 chapters, each consisting of general and specific purposes, reading text, exercises, vocabulary, and color images. On the last page, the vocabulary list is arranged alphabetically. From the results of product trials, it can be concluded that this book is effective for improving students' reading comprehension. Thus, this discussion is important to research and review to develop Arabic language books and to improve the reading comprehension of Arabic text

EXPLORING ONLINE TEACHING APPROACHES VIA TPACK IN CONDUCTING HOME-BASED TEACHING (PDPR) AMONG ARABIC SCHOOL TEACHERS FOR POST COVID EDUCATION SUSTAINABILITY

Conducting home-based teaching (PdPR) especially during COVID-19 pandemic has been an unforgotten history in the educational system all over the world since 2019 until 2021. Although the world education system has returned to its normal norms by conducting face-to-face instructions, some of the online approaches are still being adopted due to their flexibility and effectiveness in conducting online instructions. This study was conducted to investigate the level of technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) skill among Arabic school teachers in preparing online teaching and assessment in a training workshop organized by the Malaysian branch of Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, ICESCO-KUIS and Islamic Education Unit, Ministry of Education, Malaysia. This research team has been conducting the TPACK training module among purposively selected 113 Arabic school teachers from various states in Malaysia in 3 different full online workshops on 9 October, 16 October and 23 October 2021. The selection of participants was done by Bahagian Pendidikan KPM and Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri at the state level. At the end of the every programme, the participants were requested to answer a survey on the teachers’ knowledge about three essential components of TPACK, which include technology, content, and pedagogy as well their suggestions and feedbacks towards employing online assessment and effectiveness of conducted workshop. The findings are expected in contributing towards the understanding of the teacher’s level of technological knowledge and skills in designing and implementing online, blended and hybrid teaching activities especially during disaster risk reduction efforts in the world or any affected region in order to provide sustainable education for post COVID era.

Factors of Effectiveness in Teaching Arabic Language: A Literature Review Based on Past Studies

Teaching Arabic is a crucial branch within foreign language education and plays a significant role in aiding students to master effective communication skills in Arabic. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the effectiveness of Arabic language instruction by reviewing previous studies conducted by earlier researchers. The findings obtained and suggestions put forth can, to some extent, enhance the teaching and learning process, as well as augment the competencies of instructors in the teaching and learning process. This study involves an analysis of 16 prior studies conducted in the context of Arabic language instruction. Data were analyzed using meta-analysis methods to identify patterns and consistencies in the factors influencing the effectiveness of Arabic language instruction. The study results indicate several factors that impact the effectiveness of Arabic language instruction in Malaysia. Firstly, active interaction between teachers and students plays a crucial role. This entails teachers proactively engaging in the teaching process, fostering two-way communication, and providing guidance and leadership to students. Furthermore, a conducive and adequate Arabic language environment also serves as a determining factor in the learning process. The use of educational technology and the appropriate selection of teaching methods, along with the utilization of suitable techniques, also contribute to the effectiveness of Arabic language instruction. The qualifications and competence of instructors should not be overlooked, as qualified and competent teachers exert a significant influence on Arabic language learning. By comprehending these factors, a more effective and targeted teaching approach can be developed, providing substantial benefits to the Arabic language learning process. This study also lays the groundwork for further research in this field and aids in enriching the methods of teaching Arabic for future generations of students.

Poverty Issues In The Novels Bidayah Wa Nihayah And Ranjau Sepanjang Jalan: A Comparative Study

This study discusses the theme of poverty in two selected novels, namely the novel Bidayah wa Nihayah (BWN) written by Najīb Mahfūz, winner of the Nobel prize for literature in 1988 from Egypt, and the novel Ranjau Sepanjang Jalan (RSJ) by National Literary Author Shahnon Ahmad. This study will touch on the theme of poverty by using thematic comparative theory. A qualitative research design was chosen to answer the research questions through the textual study method of thematic comparative analysis and literature review. The results of the research show that there are some similarities about the theme of poverty between the two novels, among which the most significant is the interweaving of the story plot that begins with death (BWN) and dysentery (RSJ) to the heads of both families. The closure of the plot also ends tragically with suicide (BWN) and incurable madness (RSJ).

The Sentiment Analysis on News Reporting: The Sentiment of Adjectives in News Articles

This research paper investigates the use of adjectives in online news reporting and their impact on reader engagement and the overall sentiment of the news articles. The study is grounded in the theoretical framework of corpus linguistics, exploring the lexical choices of adjectives in a diverse range of news articles from various genres. The analysis is based on a mini corpus of 889 news articles with a total of 618,796 tokens, and it employs Laurence Anthony's AntConc software for data analysis. The research findings reveal that adjectives play a crucial role in shaping the tone and sentiment of news articles. The study categorises adjectives into three groups: positive, negative, and neutral. Notably, the analysis demonstrates that while a significant portion of adjectives used in news articles is neutral and context-dependent, there is a balanced presence of both positive and negative adjectives. This suggests that news reporting aims for objectivity in the content of the articles. In conclusion, this research highlights the importance of adjectival phrases in news reporting, demonstrating that adjectives can influence reader emotions and affect the newsworthiness of articles. While negative adjectives may be more prevalent in headlines to capture attention, the content of news articles tends to maintain objectivity and balance. Future research could delve deeper into the differences between news headlines and article content to better understand the strategies employed by journalists in online news reporting.

In Influence of Dialect Against Mastery of Communication Skills In Standard Malay Language Among Bumiputera Students at UPSI

This research was carried out to see how dialects influence the communication skills in standard Malay. The objective of the research is to identify the level of dominance in Malay language skills among Sabah and Sarawak students at Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI). Beside that, this research also intended to analyze the form of dialect used during oral communication among bumiputera students. Both objectives were chosen to show the influence of dialect on the Malay language in the communication skills of Sabah and Sarawak students. This research was conducted at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris using 20 samples consisting of 10 female students and 10 male students from the states of Sabah and Sarawak. The findings of the research found that the level dominance of standard Malay language communication skills tends to be female students compared to male students. In addition, the dialects used tend to be in the form of personal pronouns, task words and even verbs.

Makalah ini menumpukan penganalisisan filem Mat Kilau sebuah filem biografi epik sejarah Malaysia 2022 arahan Syamsul Yusof. Filem ini mengisahkan tentang Mat Kilau bersama dengan ayahandanya, Tok Gajah dan sahabatnya berjuang bermati-matian menentang penjajahan British satu ketika dahulu. Analisis berdasarkan Filem Mat Kilau menerusi pendekatan dakwah ini merupakan kaedah yang digunakan bagi melihat perkembangan Islam dan wadah untuk mempertingkatkan nilai ketakwaan atau ketaatan insan kepada Allah. Fokus kajian tertumpu kepada peristiwa-peristiwa penting yang memperlihatkan kehadiran Pendekatan Dakwah dalam filem Mat Kilau (2022). Kajian bersifat kualitatif ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan kaedah kepustakaan dan analisis teks. Dapatan kajian mendapati adanya penerapan islam seperti kepentingan masa, membantu orang yang dizalimi, sifat dengki, pemimpin ummah dan larangan memfitnah.Filem ini mampu menjadi alat untuk mengembangkan nilai Islam yang berlandaskan al-Quran dan hadis yang membawa kebaikan kepada pembangunan manusia.

Balaghah ialah antara ilmu-ilmu bahasa Arab yang penting seperti ilmu Nahu dan Saraf. Ilmu Balaghah lebih menjurus kepada makna sastera tersirat menjadikannya satu ilmu yang agak sukar difahami oleh pelajar bukan penutur jati bahasa Arab. Oleh itu, kajian ini bertujuan untuk membantu pelajar menguasai dan memahami ilmu ini. Kajian ini akan fokus kepada pemilihan indikator bagi Model Peta Minda Kombinasi (MPMK) untuk memahami ilmu Bayan. Ilmu Bayan adalah salah satu cabang ilmu Balaghah bahasa Arab. Objektif kajian ialah untuk mengkaji jenis indikator bagi Model Peta Minda Kombinasi (MPMK) untuk memahami ilmu Bayan. Kajian juga mengkaji keperluan jenis indikator tersebut bagi Model Peta Minda Kombinasi (MPMK) untuk memahami ilmu Bayan. Kajian kualitatif secara analisis dokumen digunakan untuk menerangkan jenis indikator yang bersesuaian. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa terdapat 4 indikator bagi Model Peta Minda Kombinasi (MPMK) untuk memahami ilmu Bayan. Pemilihan empat indikator tersebut terdiri daripada 3 cabang ilmu lain yang penting dan satu kaedah (aturan balaghah) untuk membantu pelajar memahami ilmu Bayan. Ilmu-ilmu tersebut ialah Nahu (sintaksis), Saraf (morfologi), Dalalah (semantik) dan Kaedah (aturan balaghah). Keperluan indikator 3+1 ini adalah asas utama untuk memahami ilmu Bayan seperti yang ditegaskan dan disarankan oleh kajian-kajian literatur.

The curriculum for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers is one of the major educational systems which include educational institution to plan, appoint, implement, supervise, and evaluate. Under this system, there are sub-systems which linked to each other such as objectives, content, methods of teaching and evaluation. Hence, each parts of component will give affects to every other part affected by it. The Arabic teaching curriculum should be built based on content that considers the general principles in building the curriculum. In addition,the Islamic content should be considered as the backbone of teaching Arabic language.
